Buying Beef

Don’t forget when buying meat to ask if it’s grass fed AND grass finished. Some cattle is grain finished in the last few weeks to fatten the cattle and to settle them before slaughtering. You don’t want any grains to be fed to your beef.

Even biodynamic beef during a dry spell, 'lick blocks' are added to their diet which encourages the cattle to eat the dry grasses & helps them gain the energy from them.

But, the blocks contain grain

Bypass Protein Meal/crushed Grain 200 g/kg 20.0%

Phosphorus (P) 10 g/kg 1.0%
Calcium (Ca) 30 g/kg 3.0%
Sulphur (S) 25 g/kg 2.5%
Molasses 50 g/kg 5.0%

Buying Lamb

I always considered Australian lamb to be a pretty safe bet as it is free ranged and grass fed. Bit hard to lot feed those bouncy little lambs but here's something to consider

Lambs are inoculated at 2 months with 6 in 1 vaccine, Scabiguard, B12 & Vit A, D & E, and use Click to prevent fly strike which is an IGR - Insect Growth Regulator.

 At weaning (4mths) another dose of 6 in 1 vaccine plus B12 & Vit A, D & E + Click again.
For any lice an organophosphate (Eureka Gold )is applied and for worms, a drench with Lavamisol for internal parasites. This is standard practice

Trying to find someone who doesn't treat with chemicals is almost impossible – unless you’re buying organic lamb

Newtown NSW Markets

I was lucky enough to be in Sydney this weekend and managed a trip to the Newtown Fresh Food Markets. It's so heartening to see so much fresh and organic produce so widely available to the public.

I saw Kylie Kwong slaving away on her Billy Kwong market stall making Asian pancakes filled with tasty fresh produce

Found some of my favourite greens - kale - at the organic stall. Lovely deep purple, fresh and crinkly.....

There was organic beef and chickens and ducks for sale and we discovered some wonderful Columbian coffee freshly ground. We bought fresh ham and olives and organic baby tomatoes along with some beautiful organic dairy cheese and goat cheese for lunch.

We then managed to sneak in an hour at the The Rocks Markets which was overflowing with green people drinking green beer (lots of it) and doing green things. It was, after all, St Paddy's Day!

Grassroots Movement Meeting at Orleigh Park - West End Tuesday March 19 5pm

http://www.meetup.com/Grassroots-Movement-Standing-Up-For-The-Health-Of-Everyone/

Orleigh Park Playground
Orleigh St (at end of Morry St), West End, Brisbane This group has been created to join people together who are passionate about health, who are sick of the politically correct lies surrounding saturated fat and nutrition, who want to make real change, who no longer want to let bodies like the Heart Foundation and the Dietetics Association of Australia to tell us lies, funded by sponsors about what we should be eating.
Enough is enough!!
People deserve to know the truth and to have access to factual information so that they can achieve holistic health and a balanced life. No more promoting margarine to children and families and people with heart disease as the 'healthy alternative', no more 'ticks of approval' on food that may be low in fat, but filled with sugar, dangerous artificial sweeteners, MSG, additives and preservatives.
No more fluoride in our water and no more "Cereals are eaten in large amounts and should provide the bulk of your energy (kilojoules) each day, so try to eat them at each meal. Choose wholegrain varieties when you can." - that is a direct quote from the Heart Foundation website.
I have started a petition on change.org that has the support of people like Cyndi O'Meara- Author of Changing Habits, Changing Lives, Sarah Wilson- Author of I Quit Sugar, David Gillespie- Author of Sweet Poison and his latest book Toxic Oil and Christine Cronau- Author of the Fat Revolution Series.
I want to create meetups where we can come together and work on a grassroots movement to make some much needed change.
We will start with this campaign and continue with others until we have made the changes that are so desperately needed in this country. I think it is absolutely unacceptable that children as young as 11 are developing type 2 diabetes and that the projections for 2020 is that 80% of Australians will be overweight and obese.
I have struggled through my own awful health problems and it wasn't until I turned my way of eating upside down that I was able to function and begin to reclaim my health.
I want all people to have access to real information! It doesn't matter whether you are a vegan, vegetarian, raw foodie, paleo or haven't even started on your healthy eating journey. This is not about which way of eating and health is best. It is about people standing up against processed foods being marketed as healthy and down right incorrect information being pushed on our people.                                  Let's all work together to make change!

Petition | The Heart Foundation: Stop promoting margarine and processed food! | Change.org

Petition | The Heart Foundation: Stop promoting margarine and processed food! | Change.org

There is overwhelming scientific evidence that margarine is unhealthy and toxic for human consumption. It is a man made, highly processed substance, no animal will touch it! It contains trans fats and despite the Heart Foundation reassuring people that the amounts of trans fats are very low, they are still extremely detrimental to health even at these levels and are far worse for you then butter! Trans fat tends to be solid at room temperature as well and can easily cling to the walls of your arteries as if it were saturated fat. However trans fats are MUCH WORSE than saturated fats as they are not found in nature and therefore the body has a great deal of difficulty in digesting them, as a result trans fat easily builds up in the arteries as opposed to the saturated fats which can be broken down and actually utilised by the body. Margarine has been linked to cancer AND cardiovascular disease and causes harmful free radicals.

Open Letter To The Australian Heart Foundation – Paleo Weight Loss

Open Letter To The Australian Heart Foundation – Paleo Weight Loss

Saturated fat is great for you, and essential in order for your body to absorb vital minerals and nutrients at the cellular level. Cholesterol is also essential for your body, your body actually produces it whether you get it from your diet or not. High cholesterol is not the problem, and neither is supposedly “bad” cholesterol… LDL or HDL… the problem is oxidised cholesterol.

Lemon Flan

You'll need

  • 3 whole eggs
  • 6 tablespoons unrefined coconut oil (or less, depending upon the amount you tolerate)
  • juice of 2 lemons/limes, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons non-chlorinated water
  • 3 small ovenproof dishes

You'll do

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C
  2. Put all ingredients in a blender or food processor or use stick, and blend until thoroughly mixed.
  3. Pour the blended mixture into a small ovenproof dis/dishes
  4. Put it in the preheated oven, and bake it for 30 minutes. No water is necessary.
It is very nice when it is warm, but when it is cold it is fantastic; almost like lemon cheesecake!

You may be interested in following this court case - health freedom depends on you

UPCOMING COURT CASE - WILL YOU HELP?
You are probably aware that the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) commenced proceedings against Homeopathy Plus, my husband and myself last week in the Federal Court of Australia.

(If this is news to you, you may like to read: A Letter from Fran Sheffield – Today I will be in Court http://homeopathyplus.com.au/a-letter-from-fran-sheffield/)

At last we are free to tell what happened, and we hope you will read to the story’s end as the events involved have the potential to affect you as much as us. We also have four important areas in which you may be able to help.

AT THE BEGINNING
When the ACCC decided to commence fast-tracked proceedings against us we had little more than a week’s notice to prepare for the Directions Hearing. The ACCC was concerned that three pages on our website (one of which had been removed almost a year ago) were misleading or deceptive. These pages contained information about whooping cough, the whooping cough vaccine, and the homeopathic treatment and prevention of whooping cough.

When we were advised that proceedings would be commenced, we decided to defend the action as we believed (and still believe) the information we provided was correct.

THE DIRECTIONS HEARING
At the Directions Hearing in the Federal Court last Friday (March 1, 2013), the ACCC sought immediate orders and a fast-tracked date for when the case would be heard in full.

So what was the outcome of this hearing? Thanks to excellent representation by our barrister, the Justice removed the fast-tracking; the case is now scheduled for late August, at which time we intend to defend our position vigorously. In the meantime we have agreed to remove the pages in question from our website until the case is heard.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE FUTURE?
There is still a long way to go. The case is significant and a lot is at stake – not just for us but for anyone who accesses and wants to continue to access information on vaccines and healthcare from an alternative viewpoint.

When our case reaches court in August, the following questions will be asked:
1. were our statements about the efficacy of the whooping cough vaccine correct; and
2. is there evidence to show that homeopathy can treat and prevent whooping cough?

You may be wondering if the repercussions of this case will extend beyond Homeopathy Plus, my husband and myself. You may also wonder if a precedent will be set that not only affects the practice of homeopathy in Australia but also the practice and supply of information by many other complementary and alternative therapies. And, like others, you may be asking, “Is it fair for someone to be prosecuted by a government agency just for questioning certain aspects of government health policy and offering an alternative view?”

We have received advice that the right to publicly question government information about vaccines and provide alternative information on homeopathy will be a central issue in this case (i.e. the extent of those rights and when they can be censored) so obviously, important issues are at stake.

We cannot say more at this time about the details of the case, but we hope this has gone some way to explaining its significance. We need your support and are asking you to help in a number of important areas.

THE FIGHTING FUND
If you have ever practiced or been helped by homeopathy, now is the time to show your support. A conservative estimate for legal and court costs in this case is at least $50,000 – an incredible amount of money in one lump, but not so much if divided between many. Just 500 homeopaths donating $50 each could create a fund of $25,000 right there!

If other alternative therapists – chiropractors, naturopaths, herbalists, acupuncturists (the list goes on and on) - joined with us, we would all be in a much stronger position.

And for those who want to protect their right to alternative information and natural healthcare, your donation, no matter how big or small, will help provide strong and effective legal representation.

You can donate by any of the following ways:

1. Fax your credit card details and the amount you want to give to 02 4044 0153 (international faxes: +612 4044 0153)

2. Make a PayPal payment at: fransheffield@homeopathyplus.com.au - Remember to add FIGHTING FUND in the comments section and we will send you a receipt.

3. Direct deposit funds into the following designated account – be sure to email us at office@homeopathyplus.com.au with the amount and FIGHTING FUND in the subject line so we can send you a receipt:
Westpac Account: Fighting Fund
BSB: 032 627
Account: 198475

4. Pay by card over the phone at 02 4304 0822 (International callers: +612 4304 0822)

5. Mail your cheque to Homeopathy Plus at:
7b/1 Pioneer Avenue
Tuggerah NSW 2259
Remember to provide your name and address so we can send you a receipt.

OUR LEGAL TEAM
Our legal team is still being assembled for this important case. If you are a solicitor, barrister or Queen’s Counsel and would like to be involved, please contact us on 02 4304 0822 or send an email to fransheffield@homeopathyplus.com.au

CALLING ALL EXPERTS
If have expertise in the area of whooping cough, vaccines, or the homeopathic treatment and prevention of whooping cough and would like to help with the case, please contact us on 02 4304 0822 or send an email to fransheffield@homeopathyplus.com.au

GETTING THE STORY OUT
Help spread the word about this case in any way you can. Tell your family, friends and patients about it and the implications it may have for their access to alternative health information and treatment. Post it on your blog and Facebook pages. Tweet it and pin it up on Pinterest. Share it on other social media sites. Send the information to any email lists you may be involved with. It is important to get the word out to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.

If you love homeopathy and want continued access to information on vaccines and healthcare from an alternative viewpoint you MUST choose to act. Please help us and please help homeopathy. By doing that, you will also help yourself.

Thanking you so much,

Fran Sheffield.
